Dr. O. D. "Buddy' Mitchum
February 8, 1928 ~ January 26, 2011
There are not enough words to describe how much Dr. Buddy meant to everyone who was blessed to be a part of his life. He wasn't only a great physician he was a friend, mentor, husband, father, grandfather and much more to our community. Families in our city and county has definitely loss someone who was always there when he was needed no matter what time of day.
It was always exciting to see Dr. Buddy pull up in his "Alabama Motor Home" at Robert Fowler Memorial Park when the last Saturday in April rolled around he had a special spot to park and he always set up early in the week. Sharon would be right behind in their car to pick him up to go back home. Dr. Buddy was our on-site medical doctor at the festival for many years. Not many festivals had their on personal doctor in case of an emergency. I am sure every person in this entire county could come up with many fond memories of this very special person. Dr. Buddy we will all miss you very much "Go Rest High on that Mountain". We thank your family for sharing you with us over the years. Our prayers and thoughts are with Dr. O. D. "Buddy" Mitchum's family.
